We're Starving

I had a doctor's appointment today so Zac had to feed the girls breastmilk with bottles. When I came home this is what I saw!

Officially in Cloth Diaper Land

Olivia now officially fits into the cloth diapers. This is reason for celebration! Goodbye diaper budget!!!

Pictures from Christmas

We spent Christmas at my mom's (grandma's house). The girls were little angels and have made me realize that traveling really can be done with twins!! Below are some pictures from our time there.

Merry Christmas to me!

The girls skipped their midnight feed last night. WAHOO!!! That's all I have to say about that.

Oh, and I also ask everyone to pray for the family of John O'Neal!

Day 1 of "Operation Lose the Belly"

Today was my first day back at the gym and it felt AMAZING! I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and worked out my biceps, triceps, chest, back, and some abs. We'll see how sore I am tomorrow!

I think the exercise will help with my energy and also help me get back into emotional bliss. : )

Environmental Footprint

My motivation to do cloth diapers was solely monetary. However, after going through weeks of taking the trash out daily filled with diapers, my motivation has changed. Don't get me wrong, it's the money part that will keep me motivated when I'm sick of doing the laundry. But, I am thrilled that I am doing my part to reduce the amount of nasty diapers that are sitting in a landfill. I know many people argue that cloth diapers are not any more "green" than disposables because of the energy costs in washing and drying them. I have an energy efficient front load washing machine and I choose to air dry them. I'm certain I'm not making as much of a dent in the environment as I would using disposables.
Plus, they are sooo cute!!!

5 Weeks Today

Crazy how quick time is going. I hear it just gets faster the older you get too....Scary! We went to the pediatrician yesterday. Addison is 9 lbs 1 oz and Olivia is now 8 lbs. Olivia is growing sufficiently but barely. So, we gotta keep trying to bulk her up. Addison is gaining weight more than adequately as evidenced by the sumo baby in the cloth diaper picture. Addison is now in the 39th percentile for her age and Olivia is now in the 14th percentile.

Cloth Diapers!

Addison is now big enough to fit into the cloth diapers that we bought. YIPPEE! We have been spending a fortune in disposable diapers and I am mega excited to eliminate half the disposable diaper budget (and eventually eliminate all the disposable diaper budget). Here is a picture of my cloth diapered beauty queen.

Praise God for Good Friends!

Our friend Kasey (holding Olivia) the day we brought the girls home. She rescued us by making us dinner that night and providing me with some social interaction since I'd been cooped up in a hospital with limited visitors for 10 days.

I think he likes them!

Dear Olivia

Dear Olivia,

I had no idea that girls could projectile pee until last night. Apparently you decided to pee as I was changing your diaper (with minimal light) in the middle of the night. The only reason I knew you'd decided to urinate all over was because I heard the stream hit the wipes container on the other side of the changing table. Amazing! I figured this was a talent only boys had....

I love you, baby,

Dear Addison

Dear Addison,

Thank you for the amazing laughs you gave mom and dad last night. You have taught dad a good lesson. He now knows to wear his glasses while doing midnight diaper changes so he doesn't have to hold his face so close to your bum to see what he's doing. You showed him the consequence by farting and pooping on his face.

We sure do love you,

4 Weeks Yesterday

Can you believe it? The girls were 1 month old yesterday. I can't believe how fast one month goes....it's all a bit of a blur. I feel like I'm starting to come out of the haze a little bit. I have some new pictures that I took tonight that I need to post. I will try to do that tomorrow.

First Restaurant Adventure

Zac and I decided that we needed to feel like real people and get out of the house. A coworker gave us a gift card to Applebees. We successfully made it all the way through dinner with the girls still sleeping. We had a very enjoyable meal. This gave us the confidence that we can still do normal things, even with 2 infants! We were only confronted by 1 stranger with the normal onslaught of questions which include:

1. Are they twins? (any ideas for smartass comments back would be greatly appreciated)
2. How old are they?
3. Are they identical?
4. Whose side of the family do they run on?
5. Are they your first?
6. Are they your last?

It's always the same questions....even when I was pregnant with them. People are always so curious and fascinated by twins.
